Dr. Maranda Griffin has been described as the leader’s leader, coach’s coach, friend’s friend and the champion’s champion.  Formally trained in Counselor Education, Counseling and Psychology, and Elementary Education, she prides herself on bringing out the best in others.  She has worked at the federal, state, and community level.  Among her noted accomplishments she has secured multi-million dollar grants, managed multi-million dollar budgets, fosters systems change, developed and implemented funding allocation models, spoke at national, state, and community conferences.

While in high school, Dr. Griffin joined the Air National Guard in order to finance the higher education she would pursue. In her federal service to our country, she served for twenty-two years prior to retiring at the rank of Major in 2017.

She has 10 years of state service in behavioral health, where those who worked with her experienced true leadership.  “She leads her team by example and not only served as a supervisor but a mentor in my professional life.”

At the community level, she spent 9 years in a diversity of experiences to include individual and group counseling with expertise in rape, sexual assault, substance abuse, and sexual offending.  She has provided services in prisons, jails, not-for-profit community agency, faith based institutions, university counseling centers, and contractual private practice.

Dr. Griffin has spent the last 7 years in higher education as a faculty member and currently as an administrator.  Professionally, she promotes a feeling of harmony and fairness while adapting easily to manage different personalities with tact and sincerity.   She champions others to strive to be their best.  She genuinely wants to see people win!

She is a published author within her clinical discipline and has been featured in counseling textbooks and peer reviewed journals. In addition to her professional publications, she has authored two books, Armed and Dangerous:  A Collection of Triumphant Testimonies and a companion workbook (both are available for purchase today).

She gives her parents the credit for teaching her such a hard work ethic.  Their examples coupled with her consistent faith in God are the reasons she is successful today. Somehow, Dr. Griffin still finds time to get involved in her community.   She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Junior League, the American Counseling Association, Florida Counseling Association, and the Association of Counselor Educators.
