E-Learning 101: An Introduction to e-Learning Design

Presented by Diane Elkins
       President & eLearning Advisor
     Alcorn, Ward, and Partners, Inc.

E-Learning 101

Does reading an e-learning article result in more questions than answers?  Does reviewing descriptions of the e-learning lessons make you wonder what language they are written in?  Do acronyms such as SCORM, LMS, and LCMS make you dizzy?  If so, then this session is for you.  It can be challenging to understand e-learning information without a baseline of knowledge.  This session is designed to give you that foundation so you can understand everything else you see and read.  So bring all you questions (yes, even the ones you are afraid to ask), and get the answers you need.

Diane Elkins, co-founder of Alcorn, Ward, & Partners, Inc., has been in the training and development field for 16 years as a trainer, instructional designer, and e-learning project manager.

She has built a reputation as a local and national e-learning expert by presenting at local ASTD meetings and national conferences such as the Training magazine’s national conference in 2005, 2007, and 2009.  She led the development for the three e-learning programs that won the University of North Florida's Excellence in Training Award for e-Learning in 2003, 2004, and 2006, and has served as a judge for the Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards.   She is the co-author of the books, E-Learning  Uncovered: Lectora Publisher and Web-Based Training: From Design to Execution, and teaches a certificate program at the University of North Florida on the subject.  She was named by Training Magazine as one of the Top 10 Young Trainers in the country and now serves on their editorial advisory council

Her current focus is helping companies get up and running with e-learning initiatives. She has helped companies make decisions about e-learning strategy, technology, vendor selection, and internal production processes.
