Leaders Reveal: Blending Classroom  with Online Learning 

Panelists from leadership positions in prominent local North Florida companies will share their company’s successes and “lessons learned” from their challenge of integrating classroom and online learning. Join us to hear the inside story on their greatest triumphs along with their greatest challenges so that you can implement their best practices within your own organization. 

Key concepts that will be addressed 

  • How they arrived at the decision to combine classroom with online learning

  • What tools these leaders used to make the transition

  • How they engaged leadership in the decision for blended learning

Panelists

Darrin Hayes, Enterprise eLearning Administrator, Baptist Health

Darrin Hayes is an eLearning and Instructional Design professional with experience in the healthcare, higher education, technology, and non-profit industries. His specialties include: learning technology solutions, eLearning design and development, LMS administration, training delivery, and project management. 

Darrin is the Enterprise eLearning Administrator for Baptist Health and also provides eLearning consulting for organizations seeking to develop effective and engaging online learning solutions. 

Darrin is a graduate of Andrews University with a MA in Interdisciplinary Studies – Communications. He holds a CPLP certification from ASTD and is a former chair of the ASTD Northeast Florida eSIG group. 

Jessica Ransome, Manager of Instructional Design, CSX Transportation Railroad Education and Development 

Jessica began her railroad career with the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad in March, 1982, as a Field Transportation Clerk in Baltimore, MD. She moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1989 after working various clerical positions in the Transportation and Finance departments. She was promoted in 2000 to a management position as a Training Assistant and has held various management positions for Human Resources and Customer Service. 

Jessica is currently the Manager of Instructional Design for the Railroad Education & Development and leads a team of Instructional Designers who, in collaboration with internal Business Partners and subject matter experts, create content for instructor-led training and multimedia programs. This includes developing multimedia storyboards, lesson plans, job aids, tests, competency assessments and learning simulations. Jessica holds a BS in Workforce Education & Development from Southern Illinois University. 

Jenifer Whitmer, Sr. Manager for Organizational Effectiveness, Florida Blue 

In this role, Jenifer is responsible for addressing the learning needs of the Government and Consumer market sales agents to meet organizational-performance and business-impact objectives. This entails delivering formal and informal learning solutions combined with performance support solutions to help internal sales agents and third party contracted general agents excel in their roles during this critical period of healthcare reform. 

Jenifer has worked in the field of learning and development for over 15 years and has consistently demonstrated the ability to achieve measurable results. She has proven skills in the area of building initiatives and departments from scratch, in addition to leading large-scale transitions of existing departments, and the accompanying process and people change-management efforts. Her focus on revenue and metrics results in a clear view of the added value of her initiatives and facilitates the communication of that value to others. Her career beginnings in customer service, and training design & delivery, in addition to her management-level success in the learning field, give her credibility at every level of the organization.
