    Monthly Program

Managing the People Side of Instructional Design

Successful instructional design depends on three major factors:  people/stakeholders, techniques and tools.  This presentation advances the view that instructional designers must be adept at all three “levers” of successful instructional design.  The focus of the presentation will be on managing the people side (stakeholders) of design including managing relations with fellow instructional designers (peers), subject matter experts, end-users, and key sponsors.  Best practices and success stories will be explored and shared.

A panel of three ATD members and long-time instructional designers will share best practices and success stories. You will have the opportunity to explore this topic and ask questions of Gabe Hamda, Heather Horner, and Karen Sistare.

Session Objectives:

In this session you will:

  • Identify instructional design stakeholders and their characteristics.
  • Discuss best practices in managing stakeholders.
  • Discover success stories of managing the people side of instructional design.
