Title of the Event: Influence Without Authority: Why Peer Leadership Is the Hardest Kind

Event Description:

Talent professionals influence constantly: helping leaders make better people decisions, shaping priorities across functions, and moving work forward without always having formal authority. This conversation explores what it takes to lead alongside peers, build trust across competing priorities, and create the credibility that turns a good idea into shared action. Grounded in real-world Talent challenges, we will explore how curiosity, clarity, courage, and follow-through strengthen our ability to influence outcomes that matter.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply strategies for influencing peers and leaders when formal authority is limited.

  2. Build trust and credibility across teams by using curiosity, clarity, courage, and consistent follow through.

  3. Navigate competing priorities and perspectives to turn ideas into shared action and meaningful outcomes.

Speaker #1:

Name: Brooke Jones-Chinetti

Bio:

Brooke Jones-Chinetti is Vice President of Talent Management at Haskell, where she leads the company’s workforce strategy, talent acquisition, and learning and development functions. She partners with business leaders to build the workforce and leadership capabilities needed to support Haskell’s long-term growth: connecting talent strategy, workforce planning, leadership development, technical learning, and early-career pipelines to business priorities.

Since joining Haskell in 2020, Brooke has helped strengthen the company’s talent and learning culture through enterprise-wide initiatives that develop leaders, enhance the team member experience, and prepare the organization for future workforce needs. Under this work, Haskell earned back-to-back #1 rankings from Training Magazine and was inducted into the Training Hall of Fame, while also receiving multiple Top Places to Work recognitions. Her focus remains on building practical, scalable talent systems that enable employees to grow and the business to deliver.

Brooke brings a distinctive blend of military, corporate, and technology-sector experience. Before Haskell, she served as Director of People and Operations at Werk, a technology company focused on the future of work, and as a Vice President at JPMorgan Chase. Earlier in her career, Brooke served as a Human Resources officer in the U.S. Army, including two combat deployments.

She holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University. Brooke is President of the West Point Society of North Florida and serves on the boards of the YMCA First Coast–Nocatee and the Travis Mills Foundation.

She resides in Ponte Vedra with her husband, Mark, and two sons, John Michael and Joey.
